Unit Structure:
The Huntington Park Police Department’s Gang Enforcement Unit is managed by a Lieutenant and a Sergeant. It is comprised of four Gang Officers.
Gang Unit Responsibilities:
The Gang Unit is responsible for gang suppression in the city of Huntington Park. They are directly responsible for monitoring the Florencia 13 Gang Injunction and entering each member that is served into the County database. They review and file all gang field interview cards (FI Cards). They are assigned gang related cases and investigate each accordingly.
The four officers work two day watch shifts, primarily to enter injunction filings and investigate cases. They then work two swing watch shifts to locate and suppress gang activity in the city. They regularly assist station detectives on surveillances and operations. They are also commonly used to assist patrol on Friday and Saturday nights with heavy call volume. They work with the local schools and city figures and provide gang awareness classes to students and citizens.
All four officers are trained in local gang trends, by attending CGIA training courses. They also work closely with the LASD OSS unit and other local gang officers from Bell Gardens and Southgate PD.
